Der Weißkopfseeadler ist seit 1782 der Nationalvogel der Vereinigten Staaten, als er mit ausgebreiteten Flügeln auf dem Großen Siegel unseres Landes platziert wurde. Er erscheint in vielen Regierungsinstitutionen und auf offiziellen Dokumenten, was ihn zum meistabgebildeten Vogel in ganz Amerika macht. Der Adler erscheint auf der Flagge des Präsidenten, dem Streitkolben des Repräsentantenhauses, militärischen Abzeichen und Milliarden von Ein-Dollar-Scheinen.

Der Weißkopfseeadler erschien erstmals als amerikanisches Symbol auf einem Kupfercent aus Massachusetts, der 1776 geprägt wurde. Seitdem erscheint es auf der Rückseite vieler US-Münzen, insbesondere des Silberdollars, eines halben Dollars und eines Viertels sowie der Goldmünzen, die
Sechs Jahre lang stritten sich die Mitglieder des Kongresses erbittert darüber, wie das nationale Emblem aussehen sollte. Erst 1789 wurde der Weißkopfseeadler schließlich ausgewählt, um die neue Nation zu repräsentieren.

Weißkopfseeadler wurden, wie andere Adler weltweit, von vielen seit Generationen als Symbole für Stärke, Mut, Freiheit und Unsterblichkeit angesehen. Und im Gegensatz zu anderen Adlern war der Weißkopf seeadler nur im Norden beheimatet

Go this for my son. He likes it. I thought it was nice but could be a bit better engraving so it's more detailed or even painted. I am going to try to see how it comes out. Will post when I'm finished.
